Nomination process

The nomination of potential sites for the UNESCO World Heritage List requires creating extensive dossiers and preparing Management Plans. Knowledge of the Operational Guidelines for the implementation of the World Heritage Convention, the key political decisions concerning their implementation and the management of UNESCO World Heritage properties are therefore indispensable for carrying out and completing nomination processes successfully.

Challenges arise in this area particularly with regard to the preparation of serial nominations for the UNESCO World Heritage List. This is particularly true if such serial nomination processes are conceived as transnational proposals.

We have been involved in recent years in various nomination processes at both national and international levels and we offer advisory support in this area in Germany and abroad. We can also conduct preliminary surveys in order to assess the chance of success of nomination proposals for the World Heritage List in early planning stages.
